During her childhood, Photography was already a part of her life. Her mom being a passionate photographer herself photographed every moment of Maxime and her brother growing up.
In 2008 she started her studies in journalism but during that time she started to focus more and more on photo-journalism. Shortly after purchasing her first digital camera, she began showing interest in portrait and fashion photography. During the following years, Maxime grew as a person and discovered what she is really looking for in photography.
Today her work reflects honesty, authenticity and curiosity. Her way of working is characterized by the intimate atmosphere she creates with each of her models. She wants them to be enchanted by a comfortable feeling of trust and security to ensure that they feel comfortable and can express themselves fully. Like this, she captures the true spirit of the person in front of her lens as if no camera were pointed at them at that moment.
Maxime is most intrigued by women; the way they move, laugh and talk. Her photographs from the project "Girls" allow you to dive right into the souls of her subjects by just looking into their eyes. It feels like you can understand them, see what they see, think what they think, even for a short moment. Some of them look fearless, some seem to be hopeful, some just happy.
This is the beautiful thing about strong portraits: you can lose yourself in their expressions.
