I Fall and Rise with the Falling and Rising Bodies.

One year later, on the exact same day, the 5th of December, we met again: Hugo Winder-Lind and I. The camera and the brushes. Our senses, and the fumes of mold, oil, and coffee. Our skin against the cold of winter. Our conversations on metaphysics and sheep met the cheap microphones attached to our jackets. The studio was new, yet everything felt much like before. Strangely familiar. What was left to speak about? Does art need more talking? More doing? Or is it enough to let the sheep be a sheep, to let the work simply be?

“I'm in constant movement. I approach and pull away from objects. I creep under them. I move alongside a running horse's mouth. I fall and rise with the falling and rising bodies.” - Dziga Vertov

So what did we do? We talked, of course, as you’ll see in our new film, but we also worked. Or rather, Hugo did. In a mood of curiosity and playfulness, he created a selection of unique monotype prints: delicate oil-on-paper works depicting landscapes and figures that we seem to know from his larger scale paintings, produced as we spoke. To be found bellow, and also in person on May 28 if you decide to come and meet the artist.
