Film and text by Alex Schuchmann

Born in Essex to immigrant parents from Beijing, Kelly Wu works across sculpture,
installation, and performance. Their practice explores memory and culture through found objects and personal archives, often touching on race, gender, and class—though these themes are deliberately withheld or obscured. Writing and life-art performances extend and complicate
these ideas, blurring the lines between art and everyday life.

We met them in L'Angelo Cafe in London for a quick chat over eggs and coffee before Kelly went off to work. We hope you enjoy this new format of films, where we meet someone casually and talk.

Only 20 copies of Episode 2 left.

Time’s running out to complete the first full season of Hometown Journal.
Pre-order Episode 4 as a full season set and become one of only 100 people worldwide to own all four chapters.

Each episode is limited to 800 copies—no reprints, no restocks. Once they’re gone, they’re gone for good.
