Ozzy Wright
SEWING ARTIST
Ozzie Wright, an Australian pro surfer and artist who goes by the pseudonym Ozzy Wrong, seamlessly blends my two greatest passions in life – surfing and art – into one fantastic life. The moment I came across his work, I was struck by the playful and youthful quality it exudes. Similar to his surfing style, his art is experimental, fearlessly embracing the opportunities that come his way. Besides spraying or painting objects like surfboards or the water tanks outside his house, the 46-year-old artist frequently employs his sewing machine and a few colourful fabrics, creating a distinct pattern that has become characteristic of his work.
Get to know him down below, or...
For the first four years of my life, my family and I lived in a tent while my dad built a house in the bush down in Sydney, out in a national park.
"It’s a game of what happens on the paper and how I react to it. I might also wake up in the middle of the night and write down a sentence I was dreaming of. I like to collect ideas because you get heaps of ideas and it's nice to keep a record of them."

I believe it's important to stay silly and not worry about what others think. I made puppets, made a Barbie doll, put her on strings and made her ride tubes while surfing. *laughs* I make music sometimes too.
Well, I wish I could be more abstract sometimes, but yeah it's pretty straightforward usually. *laughs*.
