Salomon Ligthelm
Director EP4
I have watched his short films, music videos and ads for most of my professional career. To me, he is a kind of celebrity: someone you read about in articles and watch in short portrait stories. But I never thought I would meet him. Salomon Ligthelm is a self-taught filmmaker who’s produced work that has garnered recognition around the world. He is someone who has influenced me a lot creatively. A director I look up to. And now, he is about to become real, in front of my own eyes.
As soon as he appears on my screen and we have said our hellos, I start rambling. A compensation for my insecurity, I guess. A symptom of my self-diagnosed ADHD and pretty much the reason why I choose patience as the overarching topic of this conversation. How can you achieve a more calm lifestyle, how can one get a healthier expectation towards their own future? How can we rest when the world never seems to stand still and time so often feels like it is running short?
Patience often means: Trying, not trying. Letting go of things that are not in my power, which I have no control over.
I believe we have to be true to ourselves. But while a lot of people say “I have to be true to myself RIGHT NOW”, we actually have to be true to the FUTURE VERSION of ourselves.

What I felt is that as soon as you start anchoring your life in relationships, though I don't want to speak for everyone, it becomes so much easier to do the creative things. These came out of the commitment and the sacrifice.
